I usually look for a word that I know is seriously lacking in my life. It's usually a personal improvement focus.
I also look for a word that has multiple facets. I love exploring every angle, and over the course of a year of exploration, I expect to discover more meanings behind the word I pick. I know I can expect some meanings to present themselves, but I always find a little surprise too!
This year, the word I picked was "grace."
Or, "grace" picked me. I always know when I've discovered the word I need to focus on because it feels right.
And now I'm evaluating the word at the half-year point.
It's been going well for me. Thus far, I've explored grace as a strength: usually people can view kindness and mercy as a weakness, when it is really the opposite. And using grace in my language: that one took a few attempts before I saw improvement!
But also, I need to refocus my efforts, which is why I take time to reevaluate every few months. I need to make sure the word still has more to offer and I am still in a mindset to learn about it and intentionally improve.
It's been a good word and I'm confident it will continue to be!
